The Eclipse Vol. 2 – Emancipation Day Gathering

Event Description:

The Eclipse Vol. 2 – Emancipation Day Gathering
A Cross-Border Cultural Presentation Bridging Black Histories in the U.S. and Canada

This Emancipation Day on August 1st 2025, step into The Eclipse Vol. 2, a bold cultural presentation and story-driven experience that uses performance, music, and visual art to trace the Black narrative across time and geography.

Inspired by the historic moment when Nat Turner witnessed a solar eclipse — a cosmic sign that sparked his legendary revolt — this event unfolds as a multi-act story. Each act represents a vital chapter in our collective memory: from the revolutionary journeys of Harriet TubmanMarie-Joseph Angélique, and Matthew Da Costa, to the enduring labor and dignity of the Pullman Porters, and the defiant courage of Jackie Robinson.

Through these acts, we tell a layered, interwoven tale of resistance, migration, and transformation — connecting the threads of Black history from the American South to Canadian soil.

The Eclipse Vol. 2 is not just a celebration — it’s a reclamation of narrative, and an intentional act of bridging the borders between Black communities in the U.S. and Canada. Join us for a night of radical remembrance, performance, and imagination. This is a story told in shadows and light — an eclipse that reveals what power lies within.
